Clinical focus

Vascular surgeon who has conducted a project on the role of neutrophils in carotid disease and in abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs). His central clinical and research expertise is translational atherosclerosis and AAA research, including complex aortic endovascular repair.

About me

I am a committed consultant in the Division of Vascular Surgery within the Department of General Surgery. My PhD research focused on understanding the role of neutrophils in carotid disease. Over the years, I have expanded my research. Currently, I am involved in pioneering research on Metformin in international collaboration with institutions like Stanford University and Uppsala University.

Since 2018, I have led the first randomised controlled trial evaluating Metformin in non-diabetic patients with abdominal aortic aneurysms. From October 2020 onwards, I took on the leadership of the Aortic PhD Fellowship, focusing on innovative endovascular devices in a specialised vascular model for stent grafts and bridging stents. My expertise spans translational research in atherosclerosis and abdominal aortic aneurysms, including complex aortic endovascular repair.
