Nephrologist specialised in clinical nephrology - diabetic nephropathy, glomerulonephritis, chronic kidney disease, nephrosclerosis and cardiovascular risk, with vast experience in tuberous sclerosis and ADPKD (autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease).
I hold a medical degree from the University of Granada School of Medicine (1983). I completed my residency and fellowship at the Nephrology Department of Hospital Gregorio Marañón, Madrid (1985-1988), and earned my PhD from the University of Extremadura (1991). I am currently a senior consultant physician in nephrology and head of the Hypertension Unit at Hospital Infanta Cristina, Badajoz. Additionally, I serve as an associate professor of nephrology at the University of Extremadura and the associate director of the chair of cardiovascular risk at the University of Salamanca School of Medicine. I have given over 190 conferences and presentations, authored over 200 scientific publications, and contributed to 31 book chapters. My research interests include chronic kidney disease, diabetic nephropathy, nephrosclerosis, hypertension, cardiovascular risk, and rare kidney diseases.
