About me

I am a paediatric cardiac surgeon and currently serve as Deputy Head of Paediatric Cardiac Surgery at the Children's Heart Centre, 2nd Faculty of Medicine, Charles University, and Motol and Homolka University Hospital in Prague, Czech Republic. I have been a member of this centre since 2014. My surgical training included a registrar position at the Asklepios Heart Center in Germany (2007), advanced training at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London (2013), and a visiting position at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, USA (2011).

Since 2017, I have been actively involved in humanitarian and development missions in Kenya, supported by the Slovak Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and SlovakAid. Within this programme, our European team performs complex paediatric cardiac surgeries while working closely with local surgeons to build sustainable capacity for a future paediatric cardiac centre in East Africa. I have also participated in medical missions in Zambia, Morocco, and Cambodia, contributing to surgical care, education, and hands-on training of local medical teams.

My international experience further includes observerships and fellowships in the United States, Germany, Belgium, and Austria, providing broad exposure to diverse approaches in paediatric cardiothoracic surgery and surgical education. I am deeply committed to combining clinical excellence with global health initiatives to improve access to high-quality paediatric cardiac care worldwide.
